About Flash Pathology

At Flash Pathology, we are pioneering rapid on-site histology solutions that empower clinicians and pathologists with real-time, high-quality tissue diagnostics - enabling faster decisions, better outcomes, and smarter workflows in surgical and biopsy settings. We are developing microscopes to redefine tissue imaging, and we are rapidly expanding our operations to bring our solutions to labs and hospitals around the world.

Your Role

As our Production Engineer (Manufacturing Lead), you will lead and scale the manufacturing operations for our cutting-edge microscopes. This is a hybrid role that blends hands-on production, process development, and strategic systems ownership - including ERP implementation, procurement coordination, and quality control. You’ll play a key role in industrializing our technology while ensuring compliance with medical device regulations (ISO 13485).

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain ERP system processes (BOM setup, routing, inventory tracking, purchasing)

  • Oversee and actively contribute to the assembly, integration, and testing of our microscope and its subassemblies

  • Design, document, and improve manufacturing and assembly processes for scalability and quality (including DFA, DFT)

  • Prepare clear, compliant work instructions and production documentation

  • Conduct process risk assessments (PFMEA) and implement mitigation strategies

  • Oversee incoming inspection, material inventory, and rework of returned products

  • Lead and support production staff, ensuring training, process discipline, and documentation accuracy

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of work experience in medical device or high-tech manufacturing

  • Degree (MBO/HBO) in Mechatronics, Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Willingness to work in a highly regulated environment

  • Proven hands-on skills in assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex electromechanical/optical systems

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Monitor, SAP) in a production environment

  • Proficiency with CAD tools and technical drawing interpretation

  • Experience with validation, risk assessment (PFMEA), and technical documentation

  • Flexibility, initiative, and a hands-on mindset suited to a fast-paced scale-up

  • Strong analytical, collaboration, and communication skills (English required; Dutch a plus)

What We Offer

  • A pivotal role in bringing breakthrough histology solutions to market

  • A dynamic, purpose-driven culture within an innovative and fast-growing start-up

  • A small international team, where you’ll make significant contributions

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience

As a start-up, we know that learning on the job is part of the journey so if you don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
